The 2011 AWMA Show opened with a busy Expo floor and featured a new Foodservice Pavilion. Distributors were pleased with the increase in exhibiting companies and the variety of products being offered –- as well as the Show Only deals offered by 59 companies.

Exhibitors had a successful day as well. John Slawny, of Gehl Food Inc., said the Show was “going great.” Their new Main St. Café Protein Smoothies are shelf stable and don’t require refrigeration, which is “like a ray of sunshine” to distributors, he said.

Elery LeBlanc, president, TurningPoint Systems said they obtained five excellent leads from the first day of the show, emphasizing the fact that the AWMA Show is all about the quality of the distributors who attend – company executives who are able to make purchase decisions and who are looking to improve their business.

Galactic Ltd. was having a good show as well, said Gary Cornwell, noting that they are able to meet many existing clients and gain new ones every year at the AWMA Show.

Red River Tea Co. participated in the Foodservice Pavilion. Previously more retailer driven, they are now looking for more alliances with distributors, said Jeff Farris, and were having a successful show.

Ted Stessman, Farner-Bocken Co., was the winner of the $2,500. cash prize drawing at the close of the first day of the show.
